Anett Slarku
ACCLAIMED Opera Director, Set & Costume Designer
Anett Slarku is a dynamic opera director and visual artist whose work spans direction, scenography, and costume design. She brings a multidisciplinary perspective to each project, shaped by her extensive academic training and hands-on experience in the operatic and theatrical fields.
She holds a Master’s degree in Opera Direction from the Verona Accademia per l’Opera, an MA in Scenography and Costume Design from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, and a BA in Theatre and Film Studies from Sorbonne University in Paris. Her academic path has equipped her with both the theoretical insight and practical skill to craft productions that are visually striking, emotionally nuanced, and dramaturgically sound.
Prior to focusing on stage direction and design, Anett worked as a dramaturg for several years, deepening her understanding of storytelling, textual interpretation, and the collaborative development of new works. Her creative journey also includes work as a performer—she appeared in Sunset, the award-winning film by Academy Award–winning director László Nemes—and has explored both vocal and theatrical performance across a variety of settings.
Currently based in Italy, Anett maintains an international practice, directing and designing for opera and theater productions across Europe. She brings to her faculty role a holistic artistic approach that merges visual storytelling with character-driven direction, empowering young artists to engage deeply with their material and the creative process.
